Ella Wheeler Wilcox, 1850-1919, an American author and popular poet. "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep, and you weep alone; For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth, But has trouble enough of its own." "The Winds of Fate" "One ship drives east and another drives west With the self-same winds that blow. Tis the set of the sails, And not the gales, That tell us the way to go. Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate; As we voyage along through life, Tis the set of a soul That decides its goal, And not the calm or the strife." "Faith" "I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea Come drifting home with broken masts and sails; I will believe the Hand that never fails, From seeming evil works to good for me. And though I weep because those sails are tattered, Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered: 'I will trust in thee.' I will not doubt, though all my prayers return Unanswered from the still, white realm above; I will believe it…

"The Passion of Jesus Christ" by John Piper
I used this book as part of my daily devotional time. The chapters are 50 in all, so I read 1 chapter per day. Each chapter is 2 pages in length. "The author writes that the most important questions a person can ask is: Why was Jesus Christ crucified? Why did He suffer so much? What has this to do with me? Who sent Him to His death?" The 50 reasons to these questions are given 1 at a time in the 50 chapters. A better word than reason would be purposes, 50 purposes of why God sent His Son to die. Some examples of the chapters, or reasons are; "To Absorb the Wrath of God", "To Show the Wealth of God's Love and Grace for Sinners", "To become a Ransom for Many", "To Free Us from the Futility of Sin". This book was extra special in that I finished the book shortly before Easter, I did not plan this, but I know God did.
You cannot sit on the fence with God about His Son Jesus, and His …

"Joy is not gush: joy is not jolliness. Joy is simply perfect acquiescence in God's will, because the soul delights itself in God Himself...rejoice in the will of God, and in nothing else." Amy Carmichael

"Life is built on character, but character is built on decision. The decisions you make, small and great, do to your life what the sculptor's chisel does to a block of marble. You shape your life by your thoughts, attitudes, and actions." Warren W. Wiersbe "On Being a Servant of God"

Finding Hidden Treasure

I love blue jay's, they are notorious as being loud and aggressive, especially when they have young in a nest nearby, they will swoop down on cats that encroach to closely, but I love them most because they are fearless. During the time that we were awaiting Mother's death, in my parent's home, I found a box, in the back of a closet, that was filled with many hand written pages that Mother had written, it seems she also had an affection for poems and quotes. I have already posted about Mother's death on my other blog @ "To Solitude" "A mother needs a quite time To renovate her soul; A quite time to meditate, To strengthen self control; A quite time for soothing nerves and vanquishing her wrath; But most of all a quite time In which to take a bath." Author Unknown "Sow a thought, and you reap an act; Sow an act, and you reap a habit; Sow a habit, and you reap a character; Sow a character and you reap a destiny." Charles R…
