Fragrance of Life

"But thanks be to God, who in Christ always, leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?" 2 Corinthians 2:14-16

A dear friend died late last night, he had been the worship leader at our church for over 30 years. He was a talented man, a sweet and loving person. He had led the music at my own mother's funeral nearly a year ago. A week ago he told a friend that "soon he would be singing in the Lord's choir." That is such a beautiful picture, such an exuberant feeling to know that we will see each other again, and that when we do we will be singing before the throne of God.
What do you think about when you think of heaven?
Do you think of harps, angels, singing?
I guess heaven is some what of a mystery since we do not know every detail of this place, but it is a place, Jesus told us in John 14: 2-3, "In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." We understand that it is a place and that Jesus is preparing it for us, we also know that it has many rooms, and that He will come again to take us to this place. My favorite part of that verse is, "that where I am you may be also." Isn't that what heaven is, to be with Jesus? Yes, I want to see my mother again, to see my other family members, my friends, but I want to be with Jesus, just give me Jesus!
"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelations 21: 3-4. The greatest blessing of heaven will be that we will have perfect fellowship with Jesus.

So sorry for your loss. It sounds like it will be a gain for Heaven. I love to study about Heaven. I don't think of the things you mention but I think of teaching others in Heaven. That's one of the reasons I study so hard. I think life will be like it is here only without sadness and worry. I'm looking forward to my mansion. Doylene
