"Imperial Sugar Cookie"
1 cup Margarine
1 cup Sugar
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1 Egg
1 tsp. Water
3 cup Flour
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt

Thoroughly cream together sugar, margarine and vanilla. Add egg and water; beat until light and fluffy. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt. Divide dough in half and chill 1 hour. On slightly floured surface roll dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes. Brush lightly with milk. Sprinkle with colored sugar, candy or chopped nuts. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet at 375 degree for 6-8 minutes (turn sheet around in middle of baking.) Cool slightly. Remove from sheet or bake cookies plain and glaze with confectioners sugar, blended with milk.
Makes 6 dozen.

Actually I have baked this cookie every Christmas season since 1989, I always have comments on it being the best.

Sugar cookies are so good that I'm not surprised that we got treated to two versions.
