The Bible study is entitled "God...who are you and what can you do for me?"
You can find the study at Titus2AtTheWell and also @ ByHisGraceMinistry .
We are studying the Hebrew names of God and how they are applicable to us. So far we have traveled through Genesis, Exodus, 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles, Psalms, Isaiah, Ruth, Ezekiel, Luke, and John.
The name we are studying this week is Immanuel-God with Us. This is a ten week study, we are currently in the third week.
Jenifer B. Jernigan is the author of this current Bible study and she asks a question each Monday. The question for this week is:
"How comforting is it to you to know that God is with you, through the good and the bad, always protecting you and always loving you?"
I have pondered this question for 3 days, it is not that I do not have a ready answer, but do I have the answer that is Holy Spirit led to give? Sometimes we answer to quickly, we want an instant answer to our every question. Be serious, life most of the time is not instant, it requires patience, and thought, and especially prayer.
The word comfort can readily in-vision in our minds a warm cozy quilt, or hot chocolate, banana cream pie,
homemade macaroni and cheese, or a cozy warm fireplace. Sure, these are things of comfort but eventually the quilt will need to be washed or become tattered, the food will be eaten, the hot chocolate drank, and the fire will go out. These things are not lasting and they are not meant to be. God is meant to be lasting for us---maybe you've heard the quote "there is a God shaped vacuum in all of us." People search and search for those "things" that bring comfort, peace, a since of security, or "true" love. God is meant to be all of the above. This is comfort, that He fulfills it all! There is nothing I can add to Him, nothing someone else can add to Him, He already is, He is the I AM!
