One Question Friday

One Question Friday is a weekly post generated by Wendy @ All in a Day's Thought.

                                                                       "Pick a planet?"

The word earth is used an astounding 738 times in the Bible.

The following are a few examples from the NIV:

"The earth is the LORD'S and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters." Psalm 24: 1-2

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers, or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him." Colossians 1: 15-16

"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2: 9-11

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1: 8

"But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." John 12: 32

My answer as you have probably guessed, is earth. Earth is where Jesus' redeeming work on the cross was made, and it is where our work of being His witness and in spreading the Gospel is to take place. In May of 2009 the International Mission Board's count stated there were over 6.9 billion people on earth
(specifically--6,929.249,983). There are 6,454 people groups that are as yet unreached, for a total of
3, 990,659,766 people.

There is MUCH work to do, what can you do to be His witness--His example to those people you are in contact with everyday? God may not call you to a foreign mission field such as Africa, but there are people that you encounter everyday that need to know the Gospel's message.

Blissful Blogging!
